Math Portifolio Matrix binomials Problem Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Portifolio Matrix binomials - Math Problem Example Based on these computations, we derive the general expression for An: An = (2n-1)(an)(X) We must check for the validity of this equation by applying it to solve for A2 with a=3. A2 = 22-1321111 = 18181818 , same as the previous answer. Hence, the expression is valid. Now, take b=2; B = 2-2-22: B2 = 2-2-222-2-22 = 8-8-88 B3 = 2-2-222-2-222-2-22 = 8-8-882-2-22= 32-32-3232 B4 = 2-2-222-2-222-2-222-2-22 = 128-128-128128 Hence, we arrive at the general expression Bn = (2n-1)(bn)(Y). Note that the procedure we used is consistent with that used for matrix A, even up to the checking for validity. For the final task, we are given a new matrix M = a+ba-ba-ba+b. We must show that M = A + B and M2 = A2 + B2 using the algebraic method. Again, define A and B: A=a1111=aaaa B=b1-1-11=b-b-bb A+B= aaaa+b-b-bb=a+ba-ba-ba+b M= a+ba-ba-ba+b M=A+B equation 1 We have proven the first relationship to be true. Now we must proceed to showing M2 = A2 + B2. From equation 1, M = A + B, therefore, by substitution, this is the same as saying M2 = (A + B)2. Previously we have shown that and expression of this form X+Yn= Xn+ Yn. Hence: M2=a+ba-ba-ba+ba+ba-ba-ba+b M2=a+ba+ba-ba-ba-ba+ba-ba+ba-ba+ba-ba+ba-ba-ba+ba+b M2=2a2+2b22a2-2b22a2-2b22a2+2b2 A2=2a22a22a22a2 and B2=2b2-2b2-2b2-2b2 A2+ B2=2a2+2b22a2-2b22a2-2b22a2+2b2 M2 = A2 + B2 equation 2 Recall that A = aX and B = bY. We now produce a general statement for Mn in terms of aX and bY: Mn = An + Bn or by substitution, Mn= (aX)n + (bY)n furthermore, Mn = anXn + bnYn Verifying this equation, we try using a=2, b=3, and n=2: A=2222 and B=3-3-33 If we use, (A+B)2=5-1-155-1-15=25+1-5-5-5-525+1=26-10-1026 Now, using the general statement: M2=22X2+ 32Y2=222222222222+232-232-232232=8+188-188-188+18... Also given were matrices A and B, defined as aX and bY, respectively. Note that a and b are constants. First, recall that when multiplying constants to any matrix, we simply multiply the constant with every element of the matrix. To illustrate: Once again, the general expression is shown valid. It is also important to note that this general statement will only yield results for values of n>0. Matrices can not be raised to negative exponents.

We need to respect each other Essay Example for Free

We need to respect each other Essay As-Salamu `Alaykum: This type of greeting is common in the Arab Muslim countries meaning Peace be upon you. This greeting indicates that every person should ask for the well being of others. Respecting each other’s independence, rights and wishing for the well being of others is an integral humanity feature which should exist in every single individual who call himself/herself Human. Bible also says, †Do to others what you want others to do to you. † Thus in almost every religion respecting others emotions, belief, self respect is a must directive. But is that really happening or we just use religion to harm others than safeguarding interest of humanity. The Present day scenario: Today, the world is more like a small village wherein every single person is able to connect himself/herself with the rest of the world. There is freedom of speech and expression in almost all the countries of the world. The standard of living has improved in many countries. But a big problem has also cropped up in this new advanced world. And this new problem is of jealousy. Today no nation wants to be called backward in any field. Every country is trying hard to make more military arrangements than the neighbor. Steps are taken to prove supremacy in trade. Even the sovereignty of other country is also kept on stake just to prove power status of the country. The eastern people in wake of progress adopt culture of the western countries and there by displacing there past ethical values and moral. At once, multiculturalism and the banner of tolerance commands a trivialization of values, while sustainability of tradition seems to ever more hinge on its profitability – where value replaces virtue. This philosophy often rides the coattails of modernization, of westernization. In the race for success and progress we almost forgot to respect each other’s culture, sovereignty, equality and self-respect. Let’s just have an idea of the changes happening in the world and the possible ways of improving our attitudes towards them. East and West. 2. Cultural changes and respect of culture: Culture is infamously difficult to define, harder thus to then preserve. As the habits, lives, and histories of the over 6 billion individuals on our planet entwine. Cultural changes have been dominant in the eastern countries like Japan, China, India, Thailand, Malaysia etc. At these places, people are trying to copy all the ways of living of the western people. Reason being that they believe that by copying such ways they will be called people with class and their country will be identified as developed nation. Anthropologists are always pressed to provide concrete examples, and tangible evidence of their efforts. Highlighting cultural threats or extinction is not as black and white as a corporate bottom line, nor Compared to the West, can we in the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) be considered more collective than individualistic. There are advantages and disadvantages to both. Collectivism can lead to heard mentality and a sense of confinement. Individualism can put the success of one at the expense of another or many, and an ultimate alienation of self. Respect of culture is must and need to be recognized as an asset of our forefather’s. These people do not know that the western people are trying to copy the eastern culture as they find eastern culture to be more ethical based and sole soothing. People in western countries are copying the clothing styles of China, marriage rituals of India etc. These people are trying to extract all the moral values from the eastern countries and give to their children whom they find separated from the family values. Risk to sovereignty and respect of sovereignty: Sovereignty means the independence of the country to make decisions of its own without the interference of any other country. Every country today is sovereign but literally. The present fact is that in the wake of proving its autonomy on the world politics, every developed nation is trying to risk other country’s sovereignty. In the field United States is at the top level. By attacking Afghanistan and Iraq in the last few years, the country proved its supremacy over the world politics. But along with that the risk to sovereignty of other countries has again reinstated the tensions of cold war. East and West. 3. The risk of possible Iran and United States war has increased. Reason being that United States do not want a nuclear state in the gulf region to maintain its control over the crude oil. Whereas Iran wants to protect its boundaries from the eyes of the United States resulting in increasing tension in the middle east. The territories of Pakistan are attacked with a view to kill terrorist but against the will of the government of that country. Further more United States is trying in making a deal with India on nuclear supply but on the terms of risking its sovereignty. Respecting each other’s boundary is a must thing but with an attitude like that United States is inviting more enemies from the eastern world. Risk on Equality and respect the idea of equality: Equality is the emphatic commitment to democracy is born of a commitment to equality. Thus every person in this democratic world enjoys equality before law, equality to enjoy fundamental rights etc. Still the equality discriminates in these countries especially in United States. For instance the seventeen-year-old seem fit for political participation than some of the voting population. Regardless, it is a degree of discrimination. Furthermore children address their elders and even parents by their first name in the democratic nation. This may be called equality but along with that it undermines the importance of relationships. Thus democracy in the United States goes far to promote equality though their system does discriminate against age. Conclusion: In the nutshell, we can conclude that independence and respect of each others sovereignty, culture, right to equality, status and power identification in the International affairs is an important factor that should be considered so as to bring about peace in the world.

The marketing plan on levemir

The marketing plan on levemir The marketing plan on levemir 1.0 Executive Summary The marketing plan on Levemir for the Indian market presents the approach to increase market share of Levemir in basal analogue to 50% and in the basal insulin categories to 30% by 2012. We think that this target is achievable because of improving economy, market growth and our competitive advantage. In doing so we would retard the growth of Lantus and upgrade our existing patients on Insulatard (basal human insulin) to Levemir and would position Levemir the preferred basal insulin of choice for both type 1 and type 2 diabetes. 2.0 Corporate Vision We will be the worlds leading diabetes care company. We will offer products and services in other areas where we can make a difference. We will achieve competitive business results A job here is never just a job Our values are expressed in all our actions Our history tells us, it can be done There was no mission statement but Novo Nordisk (NN) had the vision statement as mentioned above. Ideally a mission statement should cover the firms priorities in terms of customer focus, value provided, market scope, guiding values and core competencies. The vision statement of NN is fair enough to clarify all these aspects, may be they could have added or modified more about their core competencies. 3.0 Current Marketing Situation Information about Indian Pharmaceutical, Diabetes Care and Insulin market is described in the appendix p 24. 3.1 The Basal Insulin Insulin Analogue Market The insulin analogue market is growing at 27%, predominantly contributed by the multinational pharmaceutical firms including NN, Eli Lilly and Sanofi-Aventis (fig 1). NN is leading the insulin analogue market with 54% market share followed by Eli Lilly and Sanofi-Aventis (fig 2). Figure 1: Insulin Analogue Market Growth Figure 2: Insulin Analogue Market Share Basal Insulin market can be categorised as animal, human and analogues and it offers a total market of Rs.58 crores and growing at 57%. In terms of volumes the total basal market is 810.4 million units (MU) and NN is the market leader in this segment with 46% market share. However, this share is largely because of high contributions coming from human basal. In the category of basal analogue, Sanofi-Aventis is a clear leader with ~77% market share and NN with 23% market share (fig 3). The key market insights from the basal analogue segment are as follows: The total basal analogue is worth Rs. 58 crores Lantus (insulin glargine): Rs. 45 crores Levemir (insulin detemir): Rs. 13 crores Lantus has ~77% market share and Levemir has 23% market share. Figure 3: Basal Insulin Analogue Value Market Share 3.2 Internal Sales Trend Total sales in 2007 and 2008 were Rs. 309 crs (23.6% growth) and Rs. 363 crs (17.5% growth) respectively. With respect to Levemir, sales were Rs. 8.88 crs (94% growth) and Rs. 16 crs (81%) in 2007 and 2008 respectively. The sale of Levemir until YTD November 2009 is 28 crores. The planned growth for Levemir next year (2010) would be 70%. Introduction of Levemir PenFill will further strengthen Levemirs stand against Lantus. 3.3 External Environment India is a growing economy with a stable government and Indian Pharmaceutical Market is also growing rapidly at 15%. Moreover, India has the highest number of diabetes population (51 million) in the world and is growing with westernization. Hence, its a dream of every Pharmaceutical company with diabetes products to be present in India. High market attractiveness and no barriers to entry so number of players in diabetes and insulin are growing. NN is focussed in shifting the patients to insulin analogues from human insulins as the analogue market has barriers to entry due to patents in place, less competition, no price war and has high profit margin. It is discussed in detail in the appendix p 27. 3.4 Market Size (Patient Population) India has the worlds largest population of people with diabetes, with an estimated 51 million people suffering from the disease. According to the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), India is expected to have 87 million people ailing from diabetes by 2030. India is considered as the diabetes capital of the world with a patient population of more than 50 million. Diabetes strikes the Indian population a decade earlier than the west. The reasons for the pandemic are attributed to genetic predisposition, changing lifestyle and urbanization. Treatment data (Table 1) suggests that out of 51 million, only 13 million people are diagnosed with diabetes but only: 7 million people are on medication Only 1.7 million are on insulin alone or in combination with OADs 3.5 Competitor Mapping Analysis The main competitors for NN India are: Eli Lily Sanofi-Aventis Wockhardt Biocon USV 3.6 Novo Nordisk SWOT Analysis (Internal Audit) Table 4: NN in the insulin market Strengths Diabetes is the core focus since 1920s esp. Insulin therapy Strong RD Well established in Indian market Developed the insulin market in india Continuous innovations Strong partnership with the Key Opinion Leaders in diabetes Large sales force > 500 dedicated for insulin products Weaknesses Lantus was the first basal analogue to launch in India, Levemir is not able to grow faster Higher attrition rate in the sales force Products are costly Opportunities India is the diabetes capital of the world with 51 million diabetic population Huge market for growth Develop the analogue market Threats Entry of local players Lantus patent expired launch of biosimilars, price cutting New therapeutic product launch such as GLP-1 analogues, DPP-IV inhibitors 3.7 Growth Strategy As per the Ansoffs matrix, NN is developing a new market for analogues. Hence, it is in the market development phase. As the human insulin market is crowded by generic players and more local players are entering due to market attractiveness and no barriers to entry, NN is focussing on creating and developing a new insulin analogue market so that the patients can be shifted to insulin analogues. The model is depicted pictorially in the appendix p34. 3.8 Portfolio Analysis Among the various diabetes care products, the insulin analogues including NovoMix, Levemir and NovoRapid are growing very fast and star as per the matrix. The human insulins (Mixtard, Actrapid Insulatard) are cash cows. The only OAD of NN is in the Dog stage and this maybe due to that we are not focusing in this product as we want to grow the insulin analogue market. As per NN strategy, we want to develop the analogue market, hence heavy investment and more noise level would be the key to our success. 4.0 Marketing Objectives Levemir the preferred basal insulin of choice for the treatment of both type 1 2 diabetes. Acceptance of Levemir as once-daily insulin by the doctors. To increase the value market share of Levemir in basal analogue category to 50% in next 3 years. To achieve a value market share of 30% in the basal human insulin category by 2012. To make Levemir a 30 crores brand by 2012. To launch Levemir Penfills by March 2010. To counter the growth of Lantus. To upgrade 50% of the patients on Insulatard (human insulin) to Levemir by 2012 To increase NovoRapid sales by copromotion with Levemir. 5.0 Marketing Strategy The complete range of insulin analogues, along with various delivery devices, in the Indian diabetes care market will be available only from NN. With NovoMix we will drive the analogue category in India which is predominantly a premix market (~80%). Levemir will be a part of this intensive offering, to shake up the market share occupied by Lantus. Being the only company with a full analogue portfolio, gives us the ability to initiate people with diabetes on a full analogue basal oral regimen. Levemir would be placed in the minds of the customers as the basal insulin of choice for intensive treatment for type 1 and type 2 diabetes. In both type 1 and type 2 patients, Levemir will be a once daily dose available in FlexPen. 5.1 Segmentation Prescribing doctors were divided into different categories on the basis of their prescription behaviour, qualification and influence on other peers, society or key decision maker in large institutions of repute (table 6). Prescription pattern was found out by market research (external agency) and internal data obtained from the sales team. The number of sales call, expenditure on the Dr for research purpose, international sponsorships, exposure to international forums and advisory board membership would vary for each category of physician. Levemir prescription would be generated primarily from the A and B class doctor. Hence, segmentation will help the sales force to focus better on the key customers and less cannibalisation into premix analogue segment. 5.2 Targeting Patients: Levemir will be targeted at the following categories of patients: Type 1 Diabetes: For intensive control Type 2 Diabetes: For patients on basal-oral therapy The main patient benefit will be improved control and safety coupled with no undesirable weight gain compared to Insulatard and Lantus. These benefits will be offered together with a far superior delivery device the FlexPen. Majority of the patients will come from basal-bolus to Levemir. As can be seen from the figure 5, 40% of the patients will come from basal-bolus therapy followed by basal only (20%). It will be important to focus on these two segments to ensure rapid market penetration. Prescribers: Levemir will be targeted at the following categories of doctors and prescribers (table 7): The target doctors for Levemir will be Diabetologists, Endocrinologists, Cardiologists and Physicians particularly Lantus prescribers. Key customers are described in detail in appendix p32. 5.3 Positioning The product proposition or the key to owning the positioning in the doctors mind is based on better glycaemic control and positive differentiation of Levemir over both Insulatard and Lantus. The positioning line for Levemir in India will be as follows: Add Levemir once-daily, reduce weight gain Weight neutrality assists the physician to achieve optimal control with fewer hypoglycaemic episodes and no undesirable weight gain. Levemir once-daily with OADs has to be ingrained in the doctors mind. Key messages: The key messages will aim to reinforce good glycaemic control and weight neutrality would be the key differentiator from Lantus: Weight neutral property Good glycaemic control with once-daily dosing with OADs. Controlling Diabesity leads to better quality of life and safety Levemir together with NovoRapid and NovoMix 30 are the only insulin analogues available in the advanced delivery system the FlexPen. Ultimate Control Key Messages are described in detail in the appendix p 35. 5.4 Critical Success Factors To block the growth of Lantus that has now been in the market for over 5 years Manage neutralize the entry of newer players such as Apidra (Sanofi) and Glargine from Wockhardt and Biocon. Ability of NN field force to effectively create awareness and brand acceptability for Levemir among prescribers will be crucial in establishing Levemirs position in the market. The benefits of basal-oral in type 2 and basal-bolus therapy in type 1 patients will have to clearly emerge. This will help in reinforcing the benefits of Levemir and strengthening the brand among the doctor and patient communities. Acceptance of the price point by the prescriber and the purchaser/ patient is critical for Levemir to gain prescriptions as well as market shares. Clear targeting of Levemir to Class A B doctors. Successful launch of Levemir Penfills in March 2010. 6.0 Marketing Mix 6.1 Product Levemir is a solution for injection that contains the active substance insulin detemir. It is available in pre-filled pens (FlexPen). Levemir is used to treat adults, adolescents and children over the age of six years who have diabetes. The medicine can only be obtained with a prescription. Levemir is imported to India from the manufacturing plant in Copenhagen (Denmark). Levemir is an insulin analogue prescribed to patients with diabetes for meeting the basal insulin requirement. Other insulin analogues of NN are NovoRapid and NovoMix 30. All the insulin analogues including Levemir are patented product of NN. 6.1.1 Product Life Cycle Management Source: mbarreiro.wordpress.com/ Levemir was launched in May 2006 in the Indian market. Levemir was second to Lantus in basal insulin analogue category in India. Although Levemir is 3 years old in Indian market, still it has not grown as expected compared to the global market. As per the product life cycle graph, Levemir is in the initial part of growth phase, needs more attention and intensive promotion to reach the peak. Hence the focus will be on the single biggest benefit of Levemir i.e. Less undesired weight gain and Once-daily therapy with OADs in all our communications. This will ensure that Levemirs key differentiator of Weight Advantage is completely understood and appreciated by the prescriber base. The integration of Levemir with NovoRapid will be extremely important to establish Levemir as the key part of basal-bolus therapy. This will be achieved with joint promotion and communication activities with NovoRapid with the key objective being the importance of basal-bolus therapy in the proper treatment of diabetes. Strong brand showcasing in all reputed diabetes journals, conferences and meetings with leading Key Opinion Leaders endorsements will be the key to success of Levemir so that Levemir reaches the peak of growth phase. 6.2 Price Pricing in India has to be extremely competitive as it is a very price sensitive market. Pricing here follows certain regulatory procedures. Since insulin falls under the price controlled drugs and pharmaceutical products category there is a maximum selling price which needs to be approved from the pricing authority NPPA (National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority). They would evaluate the recommendation on the following parameters: Affordability for the masses and criticality of making this product available to all if Life saving (Insulin comes under this category). Manufacturing cost the pharmaceutical company claims to incur Competitive pricing Post this NPPA gives clear approval based on which a license to market is procured. The following price was approved by NPPA after our recommendation. Product Type MRP (Rs) Levemir FlexPen 988 NN is a market leader in diabetes market globally including India and is known for its strong research and development activities. Levemir is an innovative patented product; the pricing is based on the value perceived by the customers (doctors). The pricing decision has also been done taking into account on the price of the competitor that existed during launch, Lantus Optiset Pen (MRP = Rs 801). 6.3 Promotion NN would adopt both Push strategy and Pull strategy as promotional tools. The Push strategy would be through promotional activities target at the prescribers (doctors), whereas the Pull strategy would be through increasing awareness of the end consumer (diabetic patients) about good glycaemic control, less undesired weight gain, less hypoglycaemia and easy to use insulin pens. Advertising Sales Promotion Public Relations Personal Selling Sampling The promotional tools are described in detail in the appendix p35. 6.4 Place Distribution channel structure: Levemir will be distributed via wholesalers through our channel partner M/S. Abbott India Limited. There will be no change in the distribution channel for Levemir. We will focus on Metros and larger cities to gain market volumes. Levemir will be made available in select retail outlets. The pharmaceutical distribution channel in India is described pictorially in figure 7. Figure 7: The Pharmaceutical Distribution Channel in India Note Figures in %age indicate %age of medicines supplied to the entity Acknowledgement: I am grateful to Mr Devdutt Dash, Senior Product Manager Levemir, Novo Nordisk India for providing the market data on Indian Pharmaceutical Industry, Diabetes Care, Insulin Insulin analogues and internal sales data of NN, Levemir and Lantus. 7.0 References and Bibliography 1. The Nature of the Heart in Hawthornes The Scarlet Letter Essay

The Nature of the Heart in The Scarlet Letter  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚      Sacrificing of the soul and dedication can lead to suffering for some, but meaning in life for others. This is the main theme of The Scarlet Letter,by Nathaniel Hawthorne. The story takes place in the seventeenth century in Puritan New England. The main character of the legend is Hester Prynne, who has an affair with Arthur Dimmesdale, the minister, and they produce Pearl. Hester's husband, Roger Chillingworth is the town physician. He is seen as the healer, collecting magical herbs to make medicine. Hawthorne twists the purpose of the physician by turning these healing powers into vengeance for an unhappy man. Hawthorne takes the theme and symbolizes the different characters as a part of nature. He also uses imagery to show the different relationships between the characters. He achieves this by showing the dramatic differences between good and evil through light, darkness and shadows being cast upon the earth. When he does this, he draws the reader in and lets them visualize the human nature of struggling lovers. The story opens with a view of the Prison-Door. Near the door are glimpses of men and women surrounded by a cloud of gray. The first hint at nature is to "a wild rosebush, covered . . . with delicate gems . . . offer their fragrance and fragile beauty to the prisoner" (53). The rosebush was shown as the heart of nature that provided pity and comfort to any prisoner which was within its walls. Nearly seven years after Hester's public exhibition for her sin in the Marketplace, she and her young daughter are visiting in the Governor's Hall. Pearl was immediately drawn to the rosebushes in the garden. She begins to scream and throws a fit in her desire... ...eminders of how sinners can truly learn about what type of person they honestly are. Hester would always help people and Dimmesdale would never be true to himself about his religion. The doctor was perhaps the most significant character of the whole story. He would always help people, even if it meant helping them die. Pearl was the reminder of how a free person can really prevail. Hawthorne used his symbolism through nature to show how people develop and rediscover themselves and life. His symbolism also showed how different parts of nature die and how others thrive based on the way they decide to live. He made this connection with the sinners and let the readers picture the relationship between them by using the symbolism through nature.    "Works Cited" Hawthorne, Nathaniel. The History of Computers :: Technology Computers Essays

The History of Computers To those of us that have grown up during the computer age, computers seem like a normal part of our everyday lives. The idea that only a few decades ago computers were virtually unheard of is inconceivable. Computers are now so essential that they basically run our society and the whole of the modern world. They track hurricanes, forecast the weather, predict natural disasters, control satellites and missiles and keep countries around the world in constant contact. The technology that revolves around the computer industry is forever changing and growing, becoming more advanced and doing things that seem beyond anyone ¦Ãƒ s wildest dreams. The development of computers during the last few decades is astronomical and could be one of the fastest developing inventions ever created. The dawn of the computer age can be traced back to the period of 1936  ¡Ãƒâ„¢ 1945, when the first computers were being built in several countries (Tomaselli vii). Although they came about as a result of the war, it is certainly safe to say they would have developed on their own in the business industry. Regardless, computer technology has grown by incredible leaps and bounds since the very beginning and as Barnes says,  ¡Ãƒ we have been living amidst the fastest technological revolution of all time ¡ÃƒÅ" (vii). Every couple of years something completely new and more advanced comes out and takes over the previous style of production and pretty much exterminate it as well. The technology is forever changing and constantly growing. There are so many technologies associated with the computer industry that it ¦Ãƒ s almost hard to keep track of. The technology that is most directly related to the greater society in this country at least is the personal compute r, or the PC. A personal computer can be defined as a computer built around a microprocessor for use by an individual, as in an office or at home or school. The PC, also known as the microcomputer, was developed from the semiconductor industry (Barnes 622). In 1968, Robert Noyce and Gordon Moore created Intel and started developing a photolithography method to put three components on a single chip (Barnes 622).

Establishment of ethos- I have been in athletics all my life and participated in the sports of basketball and track and field. From middle school, high school and even college I been performing this skill over the years in high intensity to try and perfect the perfect jump shot. As I am now pursing to be a well known Personal Trainer it will be great to express and inform such an audience on my knowledge of the perfect jump shot. 4. Thesis- By following and practicing these proper shooting techniques it will improve the amount of askets you will make. 5. Preview- During this presentation I will inform you how to shoot the perfect jump shot by giving you plenty of techniques including shooting mechanics, shooting form and fun drills you can practice to improve this technique. Transition: First I will discuss the basketball shooting technique if you don’t exactly know what that is; it is also known as the correct way to shoot a basketball. Body: 1. Not everyone will shoot the same, and some people might just have the most awkwardness shot and it will fit them and make baskets. But the best shooters in the NBA and WNBA establish the basics when it comes to shooting a basketball. A) According to Brad Winters author of â€Å"How to Shoot the Perfect Jump Shot† he list a detail explanation of the correct shooting techniques in which I will show you myself. He states, â€Å"1. Right foot forward, left foot back 2. Elbow close to and in front of body 3. Fingertips centered on the ball 4. Cock your hand so you can see wrinkles behind your wrist 5. The straightening of your arm will naturally bring the fingers directly behind the ball for the release and follow through 6. The basketball is brought to a position in front of the face right eye and left shoulder and high enough to see goal, teammates, defenders etc. † 2. With the proper skill set and consistent practice will you actually have a better percentage? B) If you have heard of Michael Jordan, he is the best player who has ever set foot on a basketball court and is a well know legend, will agre e that the correct shooting techniques will make a difference. C) According to Michael Jordan it’s all about the B. E. E. F. Balance, eyes, elbow and follow through. Michael Jordan Stats, â€Å"It’s important to shoot the ball the same way every single time, balance yourself with having your knees bent and one foot in front of the other, keep your eyes on the basket specifically in front of the rim, have your elbow close to and in front to protect the ball and once you rise up your follow through needs a flick of the wrist and a arc†. Transition: Correct shooting techniques is clearly needed in order to perfect the perfect jump shot. As Michael Jordan says, you have to shoot the ball the same way every time and once you get the proper techniques down your percentage will go up drastically. Next I will like to discuss Basketball Shooting Mechanics. 1. The difference between shooting technique and mechanics is that mechanics uses math and a little physics. A) 7 tips to improve your shooting mechanics by, Jeff Haefner gives you insight on the correct shooting mechanics that elevate your shooting technique (form) but I will list 3 that is the most important to me. Your feet need to be shoulder-width apart. Your knees should be slightly bent. If you like a stance that’s more open, then your shooting foot should be forward and your non-shooting foot trailing behind. If you like a stance that’s more square, then both of your feet should be facing the basket. -Make sure the ball is released before you reach the top of your jump. Your legs generate up force, so use them! You should always land in the same sp ot that you left. -When you shoot, the ball should start going right up with no dipping. Your elbow needs to be right under the ball, and your shooting hand needs to be in direct line to the rim. The ball needs to stay in front of you and should not go behind your head at all. Your body should release all with the shot: your legs, your core, and your arm all coordinated with one graceful movement. Your elbow and wrist should expand in a straight line to the basket. Transition: Shooting mechanics is another important aspect that goes into shooting the perfect jump shot, it is easy to slip into bad habits and the more you do a bad habit the deeper it will be ingrained and BECOME your mechanic. So practice is needed the more repetition the better you will become, now that you have your shooting fundamentals and shooting mechanics down. Now it’s time to have fun. SHOOTING DRILLS!! (: 1. A fun way to practice these techniques and mechanics is shooting drills, shooting drills that include fun but most of all repetition, game like intensity and put your knowledge and body to test. A) Ray Allen is considered one of the purest shooters in NBA history and leads the league all time in three pointers made. Strictly skills basketball . com lists some of Ray Allen’s workouts, drills and pre game rituals he does to improve his shooting. B) List of drills to do: The 2 minute challenge- The Ray Allen drill is meant to be a 2:00 timed drill to force accuracy and make you shoot under pressure. Do it several times to work on your conditioning and your shot. You must have a partner in order to do it for time, but it can also be done individually without the time component. The Elbow drill- Run to elbow to elbow and make 10 baskets on each side, will need a partner to rebound and pass the ball to you and has to be fast paced game like motion. The shoot and retreat drill- You will also need a partner to rebound and pass for you; you will run full speed to a pass and rise for a jump shot and the retreat back on defense. This drill will help with your form under the circumstances of recovering after you retreat; conditioning and shooting form will be tested in this drill once you are tired. Transition: As you can see, perfecting the perfect jump shot requires a lot of hard work but once you have your fundamentals and mechanics down it will be fun to practice them in drills and in games which will improve your percentage of baskets going in the hoop. Conclusion: 1. Signal: Correct shooting techniques, basketball shooting mechanics, basketball shooting form and drills to improve your shooting techniques. 2. Review: Not only is this to help improve basketball skills and your perfect jump shot this will help with any fitness you desire to participate in. 3.
